Trenchport Labor Union

The Trenchport Labor Union was once a beacon of workers' rights and a force dedicated to protecting the laborers who keep the city running. Now, it is a hollow shell, a corrupted institution where the leadership is as entangled with the city's criminal elite as any other power structure.
At its head is the Union Boss, a ruthless operator who uses their position to broker deals with the city’s corporations and crime syndicates. Workers who toe the line receive modest protections and the illusion of security. Those who question authority, however, face intimidation, blacklisting, or worse.
Union dues, meant to secure better wages and working conditions, are siphoned into the Boss’s personal empire. Rigged contract negotiations favor the city's elites, while genuine worker grievances are buried under layers of bureaucracy. The leadership protects the interests of the highest bidder, not the laborers sweating to survive.
Beneath the leadership lies a network of enforcers and union representatives who ensure compliance through fear. These enforcers shake down workers for loyalty, threaten dissenters, and report anyone seeking to organize outside official channels. Rumors persist of "accidents" befalling those who push too hard against the system.
Despite the corruption, a few idealists remain as laborers who dream of reclaiming the union's original purpose. They meet in secret, gathering evidence and organizing resistance. But in Trenchport, such defiance is a dangerous game where the cost of failure is often a shallow grave.
